What makes group hotel booking in Dublin different

Large group hotel booking in Dublin starts with price and availability. Fáilte Ireland research puts the Dublin hotel average daily rate at about €174, with occupancy above 80%, so short-notice blocks of 25 rooms are hard to place. Coach access is the second factor. Bus gates on the Liffey quays at Bachelors Walk and Aston Quay restrict general traffic from 7:00 to 19:00 every day, which changes how a coach reaches hotels near O'Connell Street and Temple Bar.

Ireland has no city tourist tax as of 2026, which keeps the per-person cost simple.

Where tour groups should stay in Dublin

  • Docklands and Grand Canal Dock. Newer, larger hotels on wider streets, with the NTA coach park in the Docklands nearby. About 20 to 25 minutes on foot to Trinity College. Concert nights at the 3Arena add demand.
  • Ballsbridge. Large 4★ hotels on the south side with more space around them, a short ride to St Stephen's Green. The Aviva Stadium is next door, so rugby internationals and stadium concerts fill the area.
  • Heuston, Kilmainham and Smithfield. West of the center, near the Guinness Storehouse, Heuston station and the main roads west. Practical for groups continuing to Kilkenny or Galway.
  • Airport and Santry. Suited to arrival and departure nights, with easy coach access and parking, but 30 minutes or more from the center in traffic.

Hotels for groups in Dublin: where large groups stay

The 10 hotels listed on this page were chosen for group business: 262 to 502 rooms each, 5★ and 4★, with a group desk that handles rooming lists and one contract per block. The largest blocks for a full coach in Dublin are at Clayton Hotel Burlington Road (502 rooms, Dublin 4), Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin (404 rooms, O'Connell Street) and Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge (334 rooms, Ballsbridge). Hotels of this size can usually hold 25 to 50 twin rooms on one contract, which is what a 45 to 50 passenger coach needs.

Corporate travel accommodation in Dublin works the same way. Incentive groups, conference delegations and company trips get a group rate, one rooming list and one invoice, and the same hotels serve both markets. Hotels with meeting space on this page include Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin, Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge.

Which is the best hotel for a group in Dublin depends on the itinerary more than on the lobby: coach access, parking and the distance from the center decide how the day runs. Compare the hotels below by district and distance, add the ones that fit to your request, and the desk confirms group availability and the rate for your dates within 48 hours.

Indicative group hotel rates in Dublin

The table shows group hotel rates in Dublin for a twin room with breakfast, in EUR. Dublin is usually the highest-priced city on an Ireland coach tour, so some itineraries keep Dublin to one or two nights and place other nights in Kilkenny or Galway. High-demand dates include St Patrick's Day (17 March), Six Nations rugby weekends in February and March, and summer stadium concerts at Croke Park and the Aviva. See how group hotel rates work.

Low and high season. Indicative group rates, EUR per twin room per night, group rate, breakfast included. As of September 2026.
3★ low 3★ high 4★ low 4★ high
€115–155 €155–215 €145–195 €195–275

Indicative only. Final group rates depend on dates, room mix, board and release terms and are confirmed in the desk's proposal. Low season: Nov–Mar (excl. St Patrick's week, Six Nations weekends and holidays). High season: Apr–Oct (stadium concert and match dates quoted separately).

Coach logistics: parking, drop-off and driver rooms

  • Coach parking: as of 2026 Dublin City Council charges €9 per hour, with a maximum stay of 2 hours, at its 67 designated coach spaces, paid through Parking Tag. The council points operators to the NTA Coach Park in the Docklands as a lower-cost alternative.
  • Drop-off: city center coach stops are for set-down and pick-up only, with no parking, and parking bays may not be used for loading passengers.
  • City Centre Transport Plan: the quay bus gates operate 7:00 to 19:00, Monday to Sunday, and the plan removed the tour bus stop on Bachelors Walk. Further changes around College Green are planned, so we check each hotel's approach route close to the tour date.
  • Driver rooms: singles for the driver and guide in the group hotel, included in the same contract.

Group types we place in Dublin hotels

  • Heritage and family history tours, typically 2 or 3 nights before heading west.
  • US college, school and alumni groups, including fans and bands traveling for American football games played in Dublin.
  • Golf groups combining Dublin with courses outside the city, where luggage space and early breakfasts matter.
  • Adult coach tours on Ireland and Britain circuits, usually in 4★ hotels.

Sample itineraries with a Dublin stop

  • Dublin, Kilkenny, Killarney, Galway: the classic Ireland loop, often ending with a final night near Dublin Airport.
  • Dublin and Edinburgh: north to Belfast, the ferry to Cairnryan, then on to Edinburgh.
  • Dublin and London: ferry to Holyhead, then about 430 km by road to London. US travelers need a UK ETA before entering Britain.

For the London section, coaches are available from our sister company: charter bus in London.

Group hotels in Dublin: FAQ

Which Dublin hotels take groups of 50?

A 50-guest coach group needs about 25 twin rooms plus singles for the driver and guide. Hotels that accept this size are mostly large 4★ properties in the Docklands, Ballsbridge and near the airport, plus some 3★ hotels west of the center. Because Dublin occupancy is high all year, fewer hotels release a full block on busy dates. We confirm which ones can.

Is there coach parking at Dublin hotels?

Some hotels in Ballsbridge, near the airport and on the city edge have space for a coach, while most central hotels do not. In the center, the coach sets down at the door or a signed coach stop, then parks in a council coach bay (€9 per hour, 2-hour maximum) or at the NTA Coach Park in the Docklands. We confirm the setup for each hotel.

How early should we block rooms in Dublin for May–June?

Block Dublin rooms about 12 months ahead for May and June where possible. Hotel occupancy in Dublin runs above 80%, and summer stadium concerts at Croke Park and the Aviva can take most rooms in a district on show nights. Inside 6 months, we usually suggest splitting the group between two hotels or placing part of the stay outside the city.

Can you book Dublin plus the next stop in one contract?

Yes. We source Dublin with the rest of your Ireland or Britain route, for example Kilkenny, Galway, Edinburgh or London, and issue one proposal, one contract and one invoice. Deposits, release dates and cancellation terms for every hotel are listed in one schedule, so your team tracks all rooming list deadlines in one place.

Do Dublin hotels charge a group city tax?

No. As of 2026 neither Dublin nor Ireland charges a tourist tax on hotel stays, for individual guests or groups. Irish VAT is included in hotel rates. The main extras to budget are coach parking, at €9 per hour in council bays, and breakfast where a hotel quotes room only. Our indicative rates already include breakfast.

What are the best hotels for large groups in Dublin?

For a group of 40 to 50 people, the most realistic blocks in Dublin are at the largest hotels on this page: Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin and Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge. Groups of 15 to 25 rooms have more choice, including smaller 4★ hotels closer to the center. We confirm availability, group rate and release date per hotel for your dates.

Do you arrange corporate travel accommodation in Dublin?

Yes. Business groups, incentive trips and conference delegations in Dublin are booked like tour groups: one request, a group rate, one contract and one invoice, with meeting rooms or a dinner venue added where needed. Send the dates and the number of rooms and the desk returns a proposal within 48 hours (working days).
