What makes group hotel booking in London different

Large group hotel booking in London starts with geography. Hotels large enough for a coach group sit in separate clusters across a very big city, so the right one depends on where your group spends its days. Many central streets are red routes with strict stopping rules, and a coach crossing from Kensington to the Tower of London can be slow at busy times.

London runs its own vehicle charging schemes, which also apply to foreign coaches, and room rates sit above most continental capitals. Demand peaks around the London Marathon (April), the Chelsea Flower Show (May), Wimbledon (late June to mid July) and big exhibitions at ExCeL. US travelers also need a UK ETA travel authorization before arrival.

Where tour groups should stay in London

  • Kensington and Earls Court. Several large 4★ hotels near Cromwell Road, walking distance to the South Kensington museums, Piccadilly line to Heathrow. Cromwell Road is a main artery, so we prefer hotels with a forecourt or side-street stop.
  • Bloomsbury and King's Cross. Big hotels around Russell Square, close to the British Museum, the West End and St Pancras. Narrow streets mean coach stops need planning.
  • Paddington and Lancaster Gate. Large older hotels beside Hyde Park, with the Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express at Paddington. Good value, though room sizes vary within one building.
  • Docklands and ExCeL. Modern hotels with wide roads and DLR or Elizabeth line links to the center. Easy for coaches, but rates spike during ExCeL shows.

Heathrow hotels suit first and last nights, not sightseeing stays.

London hotels for groups: where large blocks fit

The 10 hotels listed on this page were chosen for group business: 630 to 1,630 rooms each, 4★, with a group desk that handles rooming lists and one contract per block. The largest blocks for a full coach in London are at Royal National Hotel (1,630 rooms, Bloomsbury), Hilton London Metropole (1,100 rooms, Paddington) and Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London (1,019 rooms, South Bank). Hotels of this size can usually hold 25 to 50 twin rooms on one contract, which is what a 45 to 50 passenger coach needs.

Corporate travel accommodation in London works the same way. Incentive groups, conference delegations and company trips get a group rate, one rooming list and one invoice, and the same hotels serve both markets. Hotels with meeting space on this page include Royal National Hotel, Hilton London Metropole, Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London.

Which is the best hotel for a group in London depends on the itinerary more than on the lobby: coach access, parking and the distance from the center decide how the day runs. Compare the hotels below by district and distance, add the ones that fit to your request, and the desk confirms group availability and the rate for your dates within 48 hours.

Indicative group hotel rates in London

The table shows planning ranges for group hotel rates in London, converted to euros, per twin room per night with breakfast. Final rates are contracted in pounds sterling. As of September 2026 London has no city tourist tax, and UK room rates already include 20% VAT. The government announced an Overnight Visitor Levy Bill in May 2026 that would let the Mayor introduce one, so contracts for 2027 onward should say who pays any new levy. Compare cities on the group hotel rates page.

3★ low 3★ high 4★ low 4★ high

Indicative only. Final group rates depend on dates, room mix, board and release terms and are confirmed in the desk's proposal. Low season: Jan–Mar and Nov (excl. holidays and major exhibitions). High season: Apr–Oct and December (Wimbledon and major event dates quoted separately).

Coach logistics: parking, drop-off and driver rooms

  • Low Emission Zone (LEZ). Covers most of Greater London, 24 hours a day. Coaches over 5 tonnes must meet Euro VI or pay a daily charge (£100 for most non-compliant coaches). Non-UK coaches should register with TfL so a compliant vehicle is recognized.
  • Congestion Charge. The central zone charge is £18 per day since January 2026, but vehicles with 9 or more seats get a 100% discount. Non-UK coaches must register with TfL for it before driving in the zone.
  • Parking and drop-off. Westminster has 68 paid coach bays (£4 per hour in weekday charging hours), and TfL publishes set-down points at landmarks such as Park Lane. Stopping outside a hotel depends on the street, so we check each one.
  • Drivers. We book driver rooms in the group hotel and confirm overnight coach parking separately.

Group types we place in London hotels

London works for adult tour groups starting or ending a Europe tour, school and student groups (national museums such as the British Museum are free, which helps budgets), theater groups, sports groups attending Premier League or NFL London games, and incentive groups. For meals, see London restaurants for large groups.

Sample itineraries with a London stop

  • London and Paris. The coach crosses by Eurotunnel from Folkestone or ferry from Dover, then drives about 3 hours from Calais to Paris. See Paris group hotels.
  • London to Edinburgh. About 650 km, usually with a night in York. See Edinburgh group hotels.
  • London and Amsterdam. By ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland, or by road via Calais and Brussels. See Amsterdam group hotels.

Group hotels in London: FAQ

Which London hotels take groups of 50?

A group of 50 usually needs 25 to 30 rooms, mostly twins. In London that means hotels with several hundred rooms in Kensington, Bloomsbury, Paddington or the Docklands. In many London hotels a large share of rooms have one double bed, so twin availability is often the real limit. We request the twin count in writing at the offer stage so a block is not quietly converted to doubles.

Is there coach parking at London hotels?

Very few central London hotels have coach parking. Coaches set down passengers where stopping is legal, often a forecourt or side street, then move to paid bays such as Westminster's 68 coach bays or leave the center. Overnight parking is limited; one option is the Bulleid Way coach terminal at Victoria, with eight bays at a fixed £10 overnight rate. We check stops before confirming.

How early should we block rooms in London for May–June?

Block London rooms for May and June 9 to 12 months ahead. Those weeks combine the Chelsea Flower Show, the late May school half-term, spring school travel and the start of Wimbledon. Requests sent six months out or later have far fewer large hotels to choose from, often in the Docklands or near Heathrow.

Can you book London plus the next stop in one contract?

Yes. Send the full itinerary, for example London, Paris and Amsterdam, or London, York and Edinburgh, and we return one proposal covering every hotel with matching dates, room types and release dates. London hotels price in pounds sterling while continental hotels price in euros, so the proposal states the currency and payment schedule for each hotel.

Do London hotels charge a group city tax?

No. As of September 2026 London has no tourist tax, and UK hotel rates include 20% VAT. That may change: the Overnight Visitor Levy Bill announced in May 2026 would allow the Mayor of London to introduce a levy, expected to be a percentage of the room price. For tours in 2027 and later, we note in each proposal who carries the cost of any new levy.

What are the best hotels for large groups in London?

For a group of 40 to 50 people, the most realistic blocks in London are at the largest hotels on this page: Royal National Hotel, Hilton London Metropole and Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London. Groups of 15 to 25 rooms have more choice, including smaller 4★ hotels closer to the center. We confirm availability, group rate and release date per hotel for your dates.

Do you arrange corporate travel accommodation in London?

Yes. Business groups, incentive trips and conference delegations in London are booked like tour groups: one request, a group rate, one contract and one invoice, with meeting rooms or a dinner venue added where needed. Send the dates and the number of rooms and the desk returns a proposal within 48 hours (working days).

Upload your itinerary. We return a group hotel proposal within 48 hours.

No fee to request. One contact and one contract for every hotel on the tour, from 20 to 500 rooms.
