What makes group hotel booking in Munich different

Large group hotel booking in Munich is shaped by the event calendar more than by hotel supply. Munich is one of the largest hotel markets in Germany, yet Oktoberfest (September 19 to October 4, 2026) and the big fairs at Messe München can fill the 4★ segment for a whole week and multiply rates. A block of 25 twin rooms is easy to place in a quiet week and hard in a fair week, so we check your dates before we quote.

Coach access matters too. As of 2026 the environmental zone (Umweltzone) covers the Mittlerer Ring and everything inside it. Every coach needs a green emissions sticker, including coaches registered abroad, and diesel vehicles rated Euro 4/IV or older may not enter.

Where tour groups should stay in Munich

  • Hauptbahnhof, Hackerbrücke and Theresienwiese. Walking distance to Marienplatz and a short drive from the city's Hansastraße coach park. Inside the Umweltzone, with heavy traffic and very high prices during Oktoberfest, which takes place next door.
  • Schwabing and Freimann (north). Large business hotels near the A9 motorway, with the U6 line into the center and the Fröttmaning coach station close by. A good fit for tours arriving from Nuremberg or Berlin.
  • Messestadt Riem and Trudering (east). Newer hotels by the exhibition center, the U2 line and the Messestadt Ost coach station, both outside the Umweltzone. Good value outside fair dates, the first area to sell out during them.
  • Airport corridor (Freising, Hallbergmoos). Practical for a first or last night around transatlantic flights, about 40 minutes from the old town by coach in normal traffic.

Hotels for groups in Munich: where large groups stay

The 10 hotels listed on this page were chosen for group business: 341 to 627 rooms each, 5★ and 4★, with a group desk that handles rooming lists and one contract per block. The largest blocks for a full coach in Munich are at The Westin Grand Munich (627 rooms, Arabellapark (Bogenhausen)), Holiday Inn Munich - City Centre (582 rooms, Haidhausen) and Hilton Munich City (483 rooms, Haidhausen). Hotels of this size can usually hold 25 to 50 twin rooms on one contract, which is what a 45 to 50 passenger coach needs.

Corporate travel accommodation in Munich works the same way. Incentive groups, conference delegations and company trips get a group rate, one rooming list and one invoice, and the same hotels serve both markets. Hotels with meeting space on this page include The Westin Grand Munich, Holiday Inn Munich - City Centre, Hilton Munich City.

Which is the best hotel for a group in Munich depends on the itinerary more than on the lobby: coach access, parking and the distance from the center decide how the day runs. Compare the hotels below by district and distance, add the ones that fit to your request, and the desk confirms group availability and the rate for your dates within 48 hours.

Indicative group hotel rates in Munich

The table shows group hotel rates in Munich for a twin room with breakfast. Oktoberfest and major fairs are priced separately because rates on those dates can run two to three times the high-season range. For 2027 tours, watch BAU (January 11–15, 2027), transport logistic (April 26–29, 2027) and Laser World of Photonics (June 22–25, 2027). See how group pricing works.

Low and high season. Indicative group rates, EUR per twin room per night, group rate, breakfast included. As of September 2026.
3★ low 3★ high 4★ low 4★ high
€85–120 €115–165 €110–155 €150–215

Indicative only. Final group rates depend on dates, room mix, board and release terms and are confirmed in the desk's proposal. Low season: Nov and Jan–Mar (excl. trade fairs, Christmas markets and holidays). High season: Apr–Oct and December (Oktoberfest and trade fair dates quoted separately).

Coach logistics: parking, drop-off and driver rooms

  • Drop-off: the city runs five set-down zones around the old town ring, including Blumenstraße, Karl-Scharnagl-Ring, Frauenstraße and Maximiliansplatz. Coaches may load and unload there but not park.
  • Parking: the Hansastraße coach park has about 40 spaces. As of 2026 the city lists 8 euros for up to 4 hours and 17 euros for 24 hours, rising to 48 euros for 24 hours during Oktoberfest. Other coach parks are at the Deutsches Museum, the Olympic Park, Fröttmaning and Messestadt Ost.
  • Hotel access: few central hotels have space for a coach to wait. We confirm the set-down point for each hotel in the proposal.
  • Driver rooms: singles for the driver and guide in the group hotel, in the same contract, placed so the driver gets the legal daily rest.

Group types we place in Munich hotels

  • Adult coach tours on Bavaria and Alpine circuits, often 2 nights with a day trip to Neuschwanstein.
  • Student and school groups, usually in 3★ hotels with twins and triples near a U-Bahn line.
  • Faith and heritage groups, including tours to Oberammergau, whose Passion Play next runs in 2030.
  • Oktoberfest groups, which need contracts signed many months ahead.

Sample itineraries with a Munich stop

  • Munich, Salzburg, Vienna: about 435 km to Vienna, with a Salzburg stop on the way.
  • Munich, Innsbruck, Venice: about 540 km over the Brenner Pass to Venice, usually split with a lunch stop in Innsbruck.
  • Prague and Munich: about 380 km from Prague, a short driving day.

Coaches come from our sister company: charter bus in Munich and charter bus in Salzburg. For group meals, see Munich restaurants for large groups.

Group hotels in Munich: FAQ

Which Munich hotels take groups of 50?

A full coach of about 50 guests needs roughly 25 twin rooms plus singles for the driver and guide. Munich has many large 4★ business hotels around the main station, in Schwabing and near the Messe that accept blocks of that size outside fair weeks. The hotel list on this page shows large properties, and we confirm which ones accept your block, rate and release date.

Is there coach parking at Munich hotels?

Some hotels in the outer districts and near the Messe have space for a coach, but most central hotels offer only a short set-down at the entrance. The coach then parks at a public coach park such as Hansastraße, where the city lists 17 euros for 24 hours as of 2026. We record the parking answer for each hotel in the proposal.

How early should we block rooms in Munich for May–June?

Block rooms 9 to 12 months ahead for May and June. Spring brings large fairs to Messe München, and a single fair week can take most of the 4★ rooms in the city. For Oktoberfest dates, 12 months or more is safer. Groups booking inside 4 months can still be placed, generally farther out and with fewer hotel choices.

Can you book Munich plus the next stop in one contract?

Yes. We handle Munich together with the next cities on your tour, for example Salzburg, Vienna, Prague or Venice, and send one proposal with one contract and one invoice for all hotels. Each hotel keeps its own release date and cancellation terms, which we list side by side so your team sees every deadline for the whole tour in one place.

Do Munich hotels charge a group city tax?

No. As of 2026 Munich has no overnight tax, because Bavarian state law bans municipal accommodation taxes, and in November 2025 the Bavarian Constitutional Court upheld that ban. The city has said it wants a federal court review, so this could change in later years. We flag any change before you sign.

What are the best hotels for large groups in Munich?

For a group of 40 to 50 people, the most realistic blocks in Munich are at the largest hotels on this page: The Westin Grand Munich, Holiday Inn Munich - City Centre and Hilton Munich City. Groups of 15 to 25 rooms have more choice, including smaller 4★ hotels closer to the center. We confirm availability, group rate and release date per hotel for your dates.

Do you arrange corporate travel accommodation in Munich?

Yes. Business groups, incentive trips and conference delegations in Munich are booked like tour groups: one request, a group rate, one contract and one invoice, with meeting rooms or a dinner venue added where needed. Send the dates and the number of rooms and the desk returns a proposal within 48 hours (working days).

Upload your itinerary. We return a group hotel proposal within 48 hours.

No fee to request. One contact and one contract for every hotel on the tour, from 20 to 500 rooms.
